Here are the pics for the Annual SDA Golf Tournament.  We had some winners, and some not-so-winners, but everyone had a great time.  I was the beer-cart driver guy, along with greg, and it was almost more fun than playing.  I forget who the winners are, but if you guys look at this, post your names for the world to see.

Check out our trip to vegas.  It was for the ADA Annual Session.  Pretty crazy event.  We had a blast, and I won some money playing good ol' poker, and I barely took any pictures, but you can use your imagination to fill in the blanks, and this run on sentance will end... now.

These pictures are from our "Dental Dance" (as some people affectionately call it).  No pictures of me dancing (thank god) but there are a few pictures of me making a speech and giving out prizes and pictures of other people dancing.  Feel free to leave a comment!

Sorry, haven't written or posted photos in just about forever.  These pictures are from an ASDA trip to Pittsburgh in February (I think).  We went to the ASDA regional meeting and stayed in some super swanky hotel.  ASDA stands for the American Student Dental Association.  I am my school's ASDA Legislative Liaison.  This means I was in charge of organizing our political lobbying efforts.  I'll have some pictures later of when we went to annapolis and DC to lobby.

Here is some pictures taken while I gave a bunch of ASDA members tours of the new dental school.  The school is set to open later this summer.  It is really beautiful inside, and we are extremely excited about getting started in there.

Today I went golfing at a real course for the first time. Here's a brief synopsis of my golfing history: I bought clubs about 2 months ago. I've been to the driving range a few times. And now, today, i went to an actual course. For all you non-golfers out there let me tell you, golf is freakin' sweet! There is no feeling quite like getting that perfect hit and watching your ball sail perfectly straight through the air and land exactly where you wanted about 200 yards away (hopefully that number will go up soon). All you golfers know what I'm talkin about. So here's the course we went to. It wasn't one of those classy joints where you have to wear goofy pants and debate the innapropriate manner in which your personal chef prepared your eggs-benidict over afternoon tea with the chaps. Rather, it was a nice relaxed nine-whole course. Perfect for a first-timer. On the first hole (a par 3) it took me 11 stokes to get the ball in. On the second hole I knocked that number down to 6. Then 5 on the third hole. I'd say overall I did good considering it was my first time out. I didn't get the ball in one sand trap, didn't get the ball in any water hazards and only lost one ball in the woods. I am completely addicted though, and can't wait to go out and play again. So, any of ya'll out there in internet-land looking for another person for your foursome let me know, cuz I'll definately play.

Today was the big day. I took part 1 of the national dental board exam! (part 2 is after senior year... yep I getta do this all over again) This exam was an 8 hour long ordeal, with 400 questions covering biochem, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, immunology, histology, neurology, pathology, dental anatomy, occlusion, etc etc etc. It might surprise you, but dentist have to know a whole lot more about the human body than most people realize. After comparing what I was studying and what med students were studying for their part 1 boards, I'd say dental students have to know just about as much after our second year. Additionally, we have to master the anatomy and functionality of the oral cavity. No offense to the physicians, as they definately know all the body stuff better than we do, but I think people in the world need to realize that we dentists are expected to know alot more than "just" teeth, and we absolutely deserve the title "Dr." So, after weeks of ultra-intense 10 hour a day study sessions and copious amounts of stress and strife I am finally done! I am extremely happy and relieved to be finished with that horrible horrible exam. So now I have one day off and then on Wendsday I start in the clinic treating real live actual patients. Phew... ok, I'm gonna go relax.

Some of you may know that a long time ago I came across this awsome, totally sweet webpage about ninjas. Well, I'm sitting here studying for my boards (which are on monday, by the way) and I came across another totally sweet webpage. You will only like this one if you really enjoy stupid humor and if you really appreciate Polymorphonuclear Leukocytes. I warned you... so now go look at it.

July 4, 2005

Happy 4th o' July. Here is a little Independance Day trivia for ya. Only two people who signed the Decleration of Independence subsequently became president. They were John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Amazingly, both Adams and Jefferson died on the same same exact day. That day was July 4th, 1826. In one of the most incredible occurances in US history they both died on the 50th anniversary of the original Independence Day. John Adams last words were "Thomas Jefferson still survives." Ironically, he was incorrect, as Jefferson had passed away several hours earlier. If you wanna learn more about this, and other facts of the era, I strongly recomend reading either 1776 or John Adams both by David McCullough.

Check this out: there is a picture of me trying to shake the president's hand on the white house webpage. I'm in the upper right and you can see my arm (the one without long sleeves) sticking out to shake the president's hand... pretty cool, eh?
